The Falling Wall mission in Borderlands 4 marks a major turning point in the campaign. Breaking into Dominion territory to challenge the Timekeeper requires courage, precision, and a fair amount of cardio - because no vehicles are permitted inside the city. This makes the journey more dangerous and deliberate, as you're forced to rely on your movement, grappling tools, and wits.
If you're stuck on the objective "Investigate the City Wall," don't worry - this walkthrough breaks the quest down step by step. We'll guide you from your first steps outside Moxxi's bar all the way to unlocking the Lockaway Safehouse in Dominion City.
Investigating the City Wall
Your journey begins right after leaving Moxxi's Bottoms Up. From here, you'll head toward the center region of Lopside in Carcadia Burn. Pull up your map and look east: a faint purple trail of Eridium marks the path forward. Following this shimmering trail is the key to reaching Dominion's borders.
Continue eastward and you'll eventually arrive at Siltgrasp Canyon. This area functions as a natural bottleneck leading into Dominion territory. The canyon is narrow, full of vertical climbing spots, and guarded by small enemy patrols. Clear the resistance, then look for the grapple point that lets you climb further into the canyon.
Once you grapple across, you'll stumble upon the wreckage of Callis' ship - a callback to an earlier mission. Explore the wreckage until you find a small room with a red button. Press it, and the eastern door will open, granting you your first entry into Carcadia District, the outermost part of Dominion City.
Entering Dominion City
From the shipwreck, push deeper into the district. The terrain becomes increasingly unstable, with tilted buildings and large chunks of debris forming your path forward. Early on, you'll notice a slanted metal beam on your right. Climb it carefully until you reach a wind boost vent that launches you into the air. While airborne, grab the grapple point on the left wall to keep advancing.
The path here is mostly linear, so keep climbing, grappling, and dashing as necessary. Eventually, you'll drop into a hidden cave system. This cave serves as your gateway to Dominion proper and unlocks your first Fast Travel Station in the region: Final Defiance.
At this point, the NPC Levaine will contact you. After listening to her briefing, follow the rock slide eastward, pushing deeper into the Carcadia District. Keep your bearings steady - your destination is a fortified zone called The Lockaway, and it's here that your investigation will continue.
Finding The Lockaway
As you approach The Lockaway, the district becomes more hostile. Expect tougher enemy resistance, including Dominion shock troops equipped with shields and energy rifles. Use cover smartly, and remember to loot as you go - ammo gets chewed through quickly in these tight corridors.
Upon reaching The Lockaway, you'll notice that it doesn't immediately appear to function as a safehouse. Instead, it feels more like an abandoned archive. To activate it, you'll need to Borderlands 4 Build locate a hidden item and then power up the facility.
