On Monday morning, 2K announced the soundtrack for its "NBA 2K21". The soundtrack features music by several artists, but most notably, two new songs released by NBA 2K21 cover player and super star point guard Damian Lillard. NBA 2K's move has been warmly welcomed by some players, which can be found in the transaction of the game's currency NBA 2K20 MT.
NBA superstar and NBA cover athlete Damian Lillard said: "Being on the cover alone is very important to me, but being a cover character and making my music part of the game is also a huge achievement. Personally, I have heard New artists, songs and genres that may be heard on the radio, but I only heard the live version in NBA 2K."
Lillard’s soundtrack will include artists such as Roddy Ricch, The Strokes, and Stormzy. A total of 52 songs will be released, including those of the recently deceased artists Juice WRLD and Pop Smoke. Like NBA 2K20, the game soundtrack will be updated with new music throughout the year. The next-generation version of NBA 2K21 will add other songs and will have 202 tracks when it is released. After its release, the next-generation soundtrack will be updated through genres such as hip-hop, R&B, electronic, pop and rock.
"Music has always been an integral part of NBA 2K, and every year we work hard to expand the way we experience in player games," said Alfie Brody, vice president of global marketing for NBA 2K. "This year, we can take the soundtrack to a whole new level through a highly curated list of tracks powered by next-generation technology, and the addition of unreleased tracks by Damian Lillard's cover players; together it embodies the NBA 2K21 theme-everything It’s all games."
