Activision Blizzard today announced intentions to acquire gaming company Proletariat that was the source for the game Spellbreak WOTLK Classic Gold. The move is intended to boost the Blizzard's World of Warcraft team, according to an VentureBeat report.
When he heard about the news today, Twitch's most popular MMO content creator Asmongold believes that the move is an affirmation towards the organization. Although he's not afraid criticize Blizzard, Asmon believes that this acquisition is an indication that the publisher is working to make World of Warcraft a great game.
"WoW has been the biggest Blizzard game ever," he said. "Why are they not investing into this? This is the main game that made your business popular. ... It is a must think of every Blizzard gaming game ever produced, WoW is by far ... the most original game they've ever created. WoW is like the game Fortnite was in 2018 , for six years. It was freaking massive and I'm convinced that they should put more effort into the game and ensure that it is truly good."
In 2018. Fortnite took the rapidly increasing battle royale genre another level with its abundance of playful cosmetics and massive events in the game. Since then, numerous other games in the genre attempt to copy this formula but have had varying success. For Asmongold, WoW wasn't so easily copied, making it an extremely popular game in the mid-2000s.
While the glory of WoW might not be easily revived, Asmongold suggested that Blizzard should keep pumping resources into giving WoW life and making it something that players will be willing to give up everything for.
"They must invest more money into the game to ensure that it is truly good," he said. "The main thing with MMOs can be that it is the case that you need to create an MMO worth the time and effort of spending your time and energy playing the MMO. You need to make the game such that it's worth forgoing real-life obligations buy WOTLK Classic Gold, friendships, girlfriends ... You need get it to a point where the game is such and that people can give up all their life for it and then think to themselves 'thank god I got to play it.'"
