This was to prove to be their salvation, since it wasn't long before the orcs invaded their homeland of Quel'thalas. The Second War enacted a heavy burden on everyone who was involved however, the Alliance was victorious and the high elves returned back to their homes to treat their wounded.

Arthas Menethil - perhaps the franchise's most well-known and influential character - had betrayed his own people, and had pledged himself to the Scourge. His aim was to revive the powerful necromancer, Kel'thuzad. To do this , he needed the kind of power that could only be found in the high elf City of Silvermoon. Particularly, he was looking for the Sunwell, the source of endless magical energy, which was the heartbeat of the high elf world.
The Fallen Prince joined his army of undead, its ranks bolstered by the numerous bodies of Lordearon's people, and marched right for his prize. A lot of people tried to stop him including the well-known Warcraft persona Sylvanas Windrunner But she, just like any other defender, was cut down cruelly and put into eternal service. The high elves reached out to help but there was no assistance through their allies. The majority part of Alliance was either too far away to aid or simply dead with cheap TBC Classic Gold. Arthas performed nothing short massacre, taking out 9-10% of the elves' population with one swift swoop. Additionally, he stained the Sunwell beyond comprehension, dismantling the source of magic and their hopes.
