People always complain that game upgrades are hindered by RS gold it but I don't think that's the case. Bulk of the events in RuneScape are reused content in yesteryear, themed. At most they introduce a new ports or NPCs into RuneScape. I hardly doubt it greatly"hinders" development of the main RuneScape game such as that which 99% of those critics say about it all the time and it simply builds this lousy rep on RuneScape to new players because of it. You mentioned yourself that it is business crucial for the existence of micro-transactions in RuneScape so what is the issue then.
If you want an illustration of a lousy case, look at Raid Shadow Legends. Even league has a massive market with their unlimited skin releases or EXP boosts. The majority of matches have micro-transactions nowadays, so I really believe the community is either too conservative or simply outright being foolish. Thing is sport content updates. I really do not, for the life span of me, know that for some reason, that this community appear to always anticipate massive game updates that is analyzed to be sent a weekly basis, although. Literally no other games do that and even when they do.
There has to have been a TON of rewritten code over the last few years and it's just natural for them to need more time for upgrades especially if folks need quality. IMO most of the upgrades published now are designed with much more quality, balance and general considerations for the health of RuneScape then the previous decade (just look at all the dead mini-games and random"cringey" side-quests without the actual purposes RuneScape has).
And that is contentious but I also don't think we're eligible to have a superb communicative firm that would update us every tiny detail or mis-calculations or backtracks for their development. These things will only happen and in software, it happens way too often and I personally think the RS3 community just should accept the fact that game development is not easy and late deliveries are just going to happen if you don't want the company to overwork their employees and have half of them quit because of overly pressuring deadlines. Like you mentioned archaeology is a good update, and frankly getting it to level 120 should be enough to keep you busy for months.
If not you should look at developing a life that is more healthy. I know that many of RS3 players perform over 8-10 hours every day but matches shouldn't be balanced towards that expectation if we need new players and longevity for RuneScape. Even league in its current seasons have shortened the normal game season from what it used to be 35 minutes to now 25 min RuneScape games, this is due to the huge market of casual players who do not want overly invest their lifetime on RuneScape. And that is buy osrs gold paypal where I believe is that the core issue of RS3 and even OSRS tbh.
