What Are The Steps For Elevator Cleaning?

  •    Elevator and moving walkway cleaning should be a regular activity for every elevator owner, building owner, and facility manager, but it can sometimes be overlooked. Effective cleaning and disinfection of elevators are now more important than ever. Bacteria and dirt can hide and be invisible. Shoes can transfer dirt from the elevator floor. Lifting the user's hand can leave marks on the armrest, and dirt can hide on the button surfaces.
Elevators should be cleaned regularly, at least once a week, based on elevator usage. Cleaning an area with common household disinfectants will reduce the risk of spreading the infection to others.
    1. Before starting, isolate the elevator door and turn off the power.
    2. Clean from top to bottom
First, clean hard surfaces with warm soapy water (wrung out) with a disposable cloth. Then disinfect these surfaces with your usual cleaning products. Pay special attention to frequently touched areas and surfaces, such as handrails, buttons, and doorknobs.
    3. Clean elevator buttons and handrails
Use an antibacterial cleaning product to wipe down the armrests and keyboard. Use a microfiber cloth to wipe these areas and remove accumulated dirt, dust, and hair. Start by cleaning the buttons with smooth, delicate strokes.
Avoid spraying directly on the control panel surface as there is a high risk of damaging the electrical components inside the keyboard. You do not want cleaning fluid to seep into the control panel.
    4. Clean the elevator car and doors.
Use a damp cloth to clean elevator doors and any steel surfaces. Alternatively, you can use a non-abrasive cleaner. Depending on the height of the elevator, you may need a ladder to help you reach the ceiling safely. This will allow you to safely clean ceilings as well as lift doors and high places on walls. Don't skip vacuuming the gaps and tracks between each landing deck door. After removing all large debris and grime, wipe the stainless steel surface with a clean damp cloth or non-abrasive cleaner. After cleaning, wash your hands regularly with soap and water for 20 seconds and after removing gloves, aprons, and other protective measures used while cleaning.
