Diablo Immortal picks up where D2R Items began. In order to stop the demon Lord Diablo and his associates from invading the fantasy world of Sanctuary The archangel Tyrael destroyed the Worldstone the stone that was an artifact with incredible power. The remnants of Hell are scouring for fragments of the Worldstone for their own fell reasons. As a courageous adventurer, you join forces with the recurring scholar Deckard Cain to find the Worldstone shards , and then destroy thembefore the new demon lord named Skarn is able to get his hands on them.
I'm not sure about the storyline in Diablo Immortal. On one handit's got plenty of respect for the lore of the series, picking up right where Diablo II left off and setting the scene for the events to come within Diablo III. There's more to learn about the cities and civilizations of Sanctuary as well as long-time fans will be delighted to see cameos from characters such as Xul the Necromancer as well as the King Leoric who is from Tristram.
On the other hand the narrative itself is like a beat-for-beat replay from Diablo II. You'll help a group of woodland rogues, rebuild legendary weapons within the desert battle hostile shamans in a swamp, ascend the mountain with barbarians- if you've ever played Diablo II, you've literally been through this all before. The new story beats can be summarized as "find the MacGuffin then destroy this MacGuffin" repeated four or five times. I'm also wondering if Blizzard will follow the same formula for adding new areas in the future.
The way Diablo Immortal looks and Diablo 2 Resurrected Items feels will differ based on which version on Android or IOS, or the open beta on your PC. (Your saved data is synced between the two, so you don't have to be committed either one or the other.)
