You have D2R Items mentioned the lessons learned from Diablo. Did you learn anything that you took away from that experience? Diablo's been on one incredible journey starting from the beginning, when it received some criticism, then you got to the point where it's a really cool game, particularly in the case of the games released on console. But the sentiment around it was like it's that classic thing in which the first impression that you make will be the one that lasts.
Fergusson: Well, I consider it to be funny. Sometimes, perception can be a reality But when we discuss Diablo 4 being the culmination of the franchise, because it wants to respect the past. This is why when you look at what's included in Diablo 4. I like to use the formula that makes it feel like the darker tone that was present in Diablo 1. it's the evolution from Diablo 2. It's the combat visceral of Diablo.
Then it comes with its own unique innovation in Diablo 4 with the shared open world and the various things that we spoke about regarding player choice. I think one thing I mentioned about when comparing Diablo 4 between Diablo 4 and Diablo 2 is different is the idea of what's fundamental to your character [and] the equipment you use. In some ways, made it more accessible, since more than 65 million are playing it. People say, "Oh, it doesn't feel like D1 or D2. The game was played by 65 million people. it. This is a really good game. It's enjoyable to play."
But that's why when we talk about "return back to darkness" I believe it's because of that idea of honoring the past by focusing on what you want to be represented in a cult-classic feel to it, and also giving ourselves permission to go slightly darker. I'm thinking that people are going to be a little bit stunned when they arrive at D4. When they see some of these cutscenes pop up cheap D2R Ladder Items, you're thinking "Oh I thought they meant it in the end when they said "return back to the darkness."
