I'm unsure if the statue that is located at The Old Nite still exists, but it stood near the southern part of the Wilderness (or "Wildy" for short) It was a huge expanse of deserted land in the north, frequented by beasts and players-killers. I never made the pilgrimage to visit it. Stupid me.
Its most notable flaw, which could also be its largest benefit, is one shared by almost every other MMORPG: sheer longevity. In between the exhilarating quests and intense PvP combat is the relentless grinding off of daily tasks such as cooking, fishing, or mining to gain experience or earn credits needed to purchase that new helmet or piece of armor. Gotta make money somehow, right?
While these activities may be somewhat relaxing, it's a lot of time spent doing the same thing repeatedly - time that might or may not be better spent around with some shorter, but no less classic video games.
Instead of being a one-way combat, RuneScape is a painstaking combat that's very long and tiring, and never ends. It can also be extremely rewarding if you're willing to devote the time to it, and I was. I think for the first year or so.
I haven't played many MMORPGs since, to my inexplicably shameful loss. Life's demands are a lot more intense and I simply do not have the time allow them to entice me. In all the games I've played they're the most time-consuming, having infinite levels to complete and items to get. There have been deaths at the end or after of lengthy sessions of RuneScape's older but more famous sibling RuneScape gold This could also make it an eerie game.
