In light of this current spike in bot use, I've devised a method of bot-catching techniques and tests to test to determine what the probability of the participant in question being a bot. Some individuals like to navigate different webpages while training, and I've taken that into consideration when devising my tests. Just because a person fails a test doesn't mean they are a bot, but are more inclined to be solitary.
Walk up to them and ask "Are you a bot?" Most likely, you'll get an answer, even if they are botting(they have talking spiders now). However, there are still a good number of bots which don't react. To check to see whether they are really botting rather than just afk, inquire when they're banking or switching trees/rocks. If the person in question doesn't react, add 3 to the"suspicion meter".
Ask them a hint question. If they are fishing, inquire their mining level. If they're mining, then ask their magic level, ect. ect. If they fall for this, or don't respond at all, add 1 to the suspicion meter. Follow them about. Do they acknowledge that you are following them? Assess their pattern. Can they react immediately following a tree falls or respawns? In that case, add two to the feeling meter. Analyze their clicking. When they go bank their things, do they click at the specific same squares all the time? In that case, add 4 to the suspicion meter. Do something extremely wierd that draws attention to yourself. If the individual does not respond, they're either afk or botting. Try whacking them using an easter carrot, or throwing snowballs at them to see whether it is possible to get a reaction. If not, add 4 to the suspicion meter. Assessing their score.
If their distress meter is at Zero, They are probably not a bot, however it's possible. If their suspicion meter is at 1, They're most likely an easily-tricked human. If their suspicion meter is at 2, they're maybe a bot, but then again may not be. In case their distress meter is at 3, they're likely afk or have off public, but could well be a bot. In case their suspicion meter reaches 4, then they are likely a buy rsgp paypal bot, but you do not have sufficient evidence for it to be promising. If their suspicion meter is at 6 through 10, they are at very high risk for botting, but it's best to not jump to conclusions just yet.
