Medicinal Dietary Supplements

  •

First, there are several different types of encapsulation techniques, all commonly referred to as "capsules" of Medicinal Dietary Supplements. There are traditional capsules made mainly of gelatin. Soft-shell capsules, commonly referred to as softgels, are used to hold supplements or medications consisting of oils, liquids, or ingredients suspended in oils; and there are vegetarian capsules or veggie capsules, which are produced for consumption by vegetarians. In terms of safety, studies have been conducted to verify that the extreme pH conditions of gelatin processing as well as sterilization and ion exchange are effective in eliminating any hazards or health risks. However, vegan caps are gaining popularity, especially for consumers who wish to avoid all animal products, including gelatin.

Swanson Health Products' capsules do not have a synthetic coating. The shell is made of gelatin, an animal protein. It's the same as eating Jell-O or Knox gelatin, just a little less. It also takes dozens of capsules to make one teaspoon of jelly.

If you want to make your own custom supplement, feel free to buy some empty capsules.

Question: Why not use animal protein/gelatin as a vitamin coating instead of using vegan gelatin such as agar or non-animal products?

Empty Pullulan Capsules factory costs more to produce plain caps than gelatin capsules, and plain caps also tend to be more brittle and have a higher breakage rate. Although we try to offer as many vegetarian alternatives as possible in our wide range of supplements, switching entirely to vegetarian capsules increases the cost of the product. We do our best to provide our customers with as many delivery forms and cost options as possible.
