Jagex and the dangers of A Half Assed Wildy

  • In light of the recent controversy about RuneScape gold the rebirth of the wild, I'm going to examine more deeply at what this could be for the game, and how the new mechanics over the past few years will clash with what we now call "the wildy" and the problems this brings up.

Let's start with the wilderness boundaries. Before 07 there was no safe zone. This is the most crucial element of the current wilderness layout. There are safe zones. Now while you could argue that they should remain, they interfere with the flow of current PvP battles. It encourages players to move into safe areas and focus their fight on them.

This means it is impossible to protect what was a lawless zone. The problem with modern activities in wilderness areas that were not there before is another. What is their choice and what effect will it have on the wilderness?

Personally, I'd be open to moving all the minigames, such as Defender of Varrock, Defender of Varrock, and Clan Wars, to other locations. But the 3 quests aren't easy to follow. Defender of Varrock as well as the Summer questline both have large areas of wilderness. I believe that instancing the three quests is the most effective option. What exactly do I mean by this? You're completely on your own once you get to the quest's starting point or you enter the wilderness as part of the story of the Defender of Varrack. This could alter the quest little, but it shouldn't affect it in any way.

Green Dragons should remain, and so do armoured Zombies (or Chaos Ele), and the other training locations will remain the same. However the Corporeal beast is a fascinating point, while I'm sure it would be enjoyable to send runners crashing into the cave, its boss mechanic is unique in RS in that you will be banking a number of times because of its high risk nature. It would be attractive when it is moved closer to buy RS gold the edge. The entrance is located at the level 20 which is the telecut-off point.
